012 – Who You Surround Yourself with Matters

Being self employed doesn’t mean you should do EVERYTHING by yourself. Yes, it DOES mean that you are responsible for the ultimate decisions that must be made, but you DON’T have to make those decisions in a vacuum that only includes YOU!

Today I make the case that Who You Surround Yourself with Matters. I make the case that you NEED to seek out and find TRUSTED advisers who you can bounce ideas off of and get honest feed back from.

Here’s the video:

So as I said in the video, my friend ran his own business and he acknowledges that his business SUFFERED because he DID NOT have trusted advisers he could bounce ideas off of and get feedback from.

Don’t make the same mistake! Search out and find trusted advisers NOW! It could mean the difference between a struggling business and a THRIVING business!

And let me know if I can help!

    Great post! Several questions:
How did you find your advisers?
How do you communicate with them? Phone, in person, email, Skype?
How often do you communicate with them?
What is your relationship with them? Do you pay them? Barter with them?

      EXCELLENT question, Curtis!

BLOG TOPIC! It’ll be early next week. I’ll let you know when it comes out!

Ivan this is great! Even while I was watching the video, I thought “Huh. I never thought about it that way – that I should be bouncing my ideas off from others to improve on my own ideas.” So… having you share YOUR ideas with “us” helped me to improve on my own business ideas and helped me to realize I need to connect with a few people to bounce ideas off from… you of course have been one of them. :)

Why yes, yes I have. Glad to be on the journey with you!

And you DEFINITELY need to connect with others. In the past I have been more of a Lone Ranger, doing everything on my own. Now, I see the value in learning from those who have gone before.

Also in just learning from others in general. None of us have lived the exact same life so we’ll always have a little different take on things.

Let me know how I can help you or Josh going forward!
